Gantang Lake was originally named "Jing Yang Lake”. The total area occupied is 800,000 square meters and the average depth is 1.4 meters. It was composed of the gathering of Mt. Lushan's water. 60 meters causeway was built in the lake for preventing flood from Yangtze River flowing backwards and endangering Jiujiang City around Changqing 2 years (the A.D. 822 years) when Li Bo was appointed the post of provincial governor of Jiang Zhou. The strobe was supposed to control the water level. The causeway is divided into two parts where the east is South Lake and the west is the Gantang Lake. The latter was later called the Gantang Lake. Gantang Lake used to be the naval unit base of DongWu during the Three Kingdoms period. The scenery in the Lake District is exquisite, with the willow and the rippling of the ocean waves.
